Virgin Blue has advised the ASA that there is an error in its 2009 Directors Report:
"The Directors' Report states that Patrick McCall attended 8 out of 14 board meetings, when in actual fact he attended 11 out of 14."
Mr McCall is standing for re-election at the forthcoming AGM. The ASA does not monitor Virgin Blue; accordingly please do not nominate the Association as your proxy.
These three recommendations, in unison, provide non-associated shareholders with a powerful tool.
All shareholders are welcome to nominate the Australian Shareholders' Association as their proxy to vote on their behalf at company meetings.
Following a recession we barely had, and a market recovery so quick that one wonders if the lessons taught will actually be heeded, there is a good chance that a raft of novice investors will enter the market in the next year.
Damage to a company's brand is a real risk if boards put retail investors off-side.
