It's a salutary experience reflecting on the 50-year history of our Australian Shareholders' Association. Coincidentally, we share this significant milestone with two other important players in the financial sector in Australia, the Reserve Bank of Australia, with its responsibilities maintaining financial system stability; and the Centre for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), an independent think-tank promoting Australia's sustainable and socially balanced economic development. These are fitting company for the ASA to be bracketed with in reflecting on, and indeed celebrating, ASA's ongoing and substantial contribution.

Harvey Norman EGM cancelled PDF Print E-mail
Harvey Norman today cancelled an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders.  The EGM was called a month ago for the purpose of shareholders approving new grants of options to executive directors.  The move to call the meeting to approve options with lower performance hurdles than current options, met criticism from investors.  The ASA, which has previously voted in support of the company’s remuneration report, indicated that the earnings per share hurdles proposed were too soft and that it could not support the resolution.
